Flavored Water

Summer is in full swing and it’s hot out there!  Are you staying hydrated?

I wanted to share a simple easy way to keep hydrated and enjoy drinking water. I hear folks saying they don’t like to drink water and hate the taste of it. It’s important as we all know not only for hydration reasons but only to help flush our body naturally of toxins.

There are a number of fruit infused waters on the market. Not bashing but often when I look at the labels I see a bunch of other junk I really don’t want or need. Not only that the cost is just mind-blowing. You can make your own delish flavored waters on your own for a fraction of the cost and with no added chemicals you don’t need. You also don’t need a lot of equipment. I have seen recently some water pitchers that infuse the water for you but they seem rather costly to me. Look around if you really feel you need one and get the best price for you budget. I even suggest checking out stores like Marshall’s and TJMaxx or Five Below for ones that didn’t sell at the other stores.

Here’s all you need:

  • water (bottled or from the tap)
  • fresh fruit, washed and sliced
  • herbs if desired
  • pitcher to hold water
  • tea bags if using herbs
  • ice- totally optional

So what do you do? Well I am going to show you my recent batch of cucumber water which is very hydrating and cooling to the body.

Wash your cucumbers, slice and put into pitcher.

Fill pitcher to about 2/3 full and fill remaining space with ice.

Pop on lid, put in fridge to cool

No really it is that easy. Do this with strawberries, lemons, limes or mix up some berries and lemons and enjoy. There is no limit to what you can do. Now if you want to add some herbal infusion you can pop the tea bag with herbs in or warm water and make a tisane with the herbs and then allow to cool completely before adding your fruit.

I know, overly simple but such a great way to use up the beautiful bounty of summer and keep yourself cool at the same time. I’d love to hear what your favorite and maybe even most odd mixtures of flavored water you have come up with!  Leave a comment below and share.

Till next time,

Stay cool!!
